The activities of Africa Groups of Sweden are based on solidarity and a society based on the rights and duties of its people. With mutual and joint work in Southern Africa and in Sweden, we want to change the world’s unequal distribution of resources and power.

The Africa Groups of Sweden believes that:

• The primary cause of the unjust world order is the unequal distribution of power.

• It is necessary to change our daily life and the world to eradicate poverty and oppression.

• It is necessary to adapt social development to what our Earth can sustain, and to redistribute the power over the world’s resources.

AGS and the partner organizations have decided to work with four strategic themes for Southern Africa:

• Democracy and popular influence: with the aim that women and men will have a real influence on issues concerning their everyday life and that countries in Southern Africa shall have power to decide on issues concerning development policies and have influence in global institutions.

• Livelihood: with the aim that women and men in our partner countries have the possibility to provide for themselves in a way that is sustainable in the long run, causing harm to neither economy nor environment.

• HIV and AIDS: with the aim that HIV and AIDS no longer pose a threat to Southern Africa.

• Gender equality: with the aim that societies in the countries where the Africa Groups of Sweden is working are gender equal.
